ハイダラバードは、デカン高原の中央に位置し、平均海抜542m、オールドシティーと呼ばれる南部と比較的モダンな北部に分けることができる。南部はムスリム文化が色濃く残る地域で、歴史的建造物も多い。北部では特にフセイン・サーガル北東岸の開発は目ざましい。
Husain Sagar Lake joins the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad with a 3-km dam or
" bund ".
The lake,built during the reign of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, was once the source of drinking
water for Hyderabad.
At the south end of the band, close to the Secretariat, is the new Lumbini Park, from which
one can take an excursion by boat to the large Buddha Statue recently erected in the middle of the lake.
